Megan Zhang

 
Megan Zhang is a third-year JD student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Before entering law school, Megan completed a Bachelor of Science degree from Tsinghua University in China and a Master of Finance degree from Schulich School of Business, York University, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst level III candidate. Prior to law school, Megan also worked for several years in a technology startup and a business media, accumulating valuable experience in technology consulting and capital market analysis. During her 1L summer and 2L, Megan interned at a legal technology startup, assisting in establishing an online marketplace to provide more convenient and affordable cross-border legal services to small and medium-sized businesses in Canada. During her 2L summer, Megan worked as a law student at the British Columbia Securities Commission, providing significant legal research and analysis support to the legal counsels at the Capital Markets Regulation division, contributing to fostering more effective and efficient market oversight and investor protection in British Columbia. Through the Business Law Clinic, Megan looks forward to establishing connections with clients and providing high-quality legal assistance. Outside of school, Megan enjoys reading novels, writing mystery stories and practicing yoga and Zumba.

Rahman Ramji

 
Rahman is a third-year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Before embarking on his legal journey, he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Finance, from the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan. During his undergraduate years, Rahman dedicated his time to learning from various local small business leaders, enriching his understanding of commerce on a grassroots level. A sports enthusiast, Rahman spends his leisure hours following his favourite teams and staying active through regular exercise. Eager to meld his business background with his legal studies, Rahman is excited to contribute to the Business Law Clinic, where he aims to make a meaningful and positive impact.

Alina Song

 
Alina is a third-year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Prior to law school, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at UBC, and had lived and studied in five different countries before coming to Canada for her undergraduate studies. In her 1L summer, Alina worked as a legal intern at an international law firm in Beijing, where she gained experience in various corporate and energy law matters including shareholder disputes, M&A transactions, and commercial contract drafting. Alina spent her 2L summer working as a research assistant for Professors Camden Hutchison and Michelle LeBaron, engaging in the subjects of corporate governance and conflict resolution. Outside of her studies, Alina is also an Allard Law Student Ambassador and likes to spend her free time painting, reading, and hiking.

Wynona Klemt

 
Wynona is a third year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Prior to law school, Wynona studied environmental science and has a masters degree in biology from the University of Waterloo, where she studied pollution in lakes in the Alberta oil sands. She is passionate about understanding the use of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) strategies to help companies develop climate conscious business solutions. At Allard, Wynona is the External Coordinator for the Environmental Law Group and is a Research Assistant for Professor Carol Liao. She spent her 2L summer at Gowling WLG LLP, where she gained experience in the areas of environmental, administrative, and business law. Wynona is looking forward to helping clients at the clinic and further developing the skills needed to address legal issues that arise in practice as a solicitor.

Rachel Berger-Viflanzoff

Rachel Berger-Viflanzoff is a third-year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Prior to law school Rachel completed a degree in Mathematics and History at the University of Toronto. Rachel is a puzzle-solver at heart and is passionate about legal education, leading her to work part time as an LSAT tutor since starting law school. When she isn’t thinking about law, Rachel loves reading, baking, and exploring Vancouver. Rachel spent her 2L summer at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt, where she gained experience in various areas of corporate law including tax planning and disputes, commercial litigation, and document drafting. Rachel is excited to be joining the Business Law Clinic and is eager to learn more about corporate law.

Aki Kamoshida

Aki Kamoshida is a third-year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. She has an international background, having lived and studied in a total of six different countries. Before attending law school, Aki obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Global Political Economy from Waseda University in Tokyo. She has been actively involved in leadership roles as a representative of the UBC Law Students' Society (LSS) during her first and second years. She currently serves as VP External Affairs on the LSS and as the Law Faculty Councillor on the Alma Mater Society. She spent her 2L summer at McMillan LLP, where she had a chance to engage in privacy law, litigation and securities law matters. Aki is excited to join the Business Law Clinic and to help provide solutions to businesses and organizations.

Young Wook Song

Young Wook Song is a second year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Prior to law school, he completed his degree in Biology at UBC. During his 1L year at Allard, he volunteered as a clinician for LSLAP, as a presenter for Legal Education Outreach, and is now working as a research assistant. Having personally experienced some of the challenges small businesses face working at his family’s small business, he is excited at the opportunity to provide meaningful legal assistance to businesses and organizations in the community. In his free time, he enjoys playing sports, hiking, and is looking forward to joining the Allard ultimate intramural team again.

Vikram Padmanabhan

 
Vikram is a second-year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Before starting law school, Vikram graduated from the UBC Sauder School of Business where he specialized in finance with a concentration in business law. In his 1L year, Vikram volunteered as an Assistant Editor for the UBC Law Review and as a lecturer with Allard's Legal Education Outreach program. Vikram also helped co-found the Allard Law Poker for Justice club which operates to raise money towards access to justice initiatives. This past summer, Vikram worked as a summer student at McQuarrie Hunter LLP where he was exposed to commercial litigation, tax, and corporate law matters. In his spare time, Vikram can often be found watching the Canucks or playing Spikeball with friends. Vikram is excited to join the Business Law Clinic in January and help its clients meet their goals.

Simi Fagbongbe

 
Simi Fagbongbe is a third-year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, having spent her 2L summer at Cassels Vancouver. Simi completed her Political Science degree and Business minor at the University of Victoria. Soon after, she worked in business-to-business fin-tech sales and business banking, where she discovered her passion for helping businesses thrive. Simi has been actively involved in leadership and advocacy roles at Allard. In her first and second years, she was the director of finance for UBC Black Law Students’ Association (BLSA), a wellness committee representative with the UBC Law Students’ Society (LSS), and a member of Outlaws. She also volunteered with Amici Curiae through Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) helping self-represented litigants complete legal forms, and has been an Allard Ambassador since second year. Simi is keen apply her client service skills in a legal setting and learn from the Business Law Clinic adjuncts and fellow clinicians, while also playing a role in expanding access to justice. A huge wellness advocate, Simi enjoys working out, meditating, and finding creative ways to live a balanced life. In her free time, you can find her learning Mandarin, writing short stories, skiing, playing tennis or planning her next travel adventure.

Chloe Jurczyk

 
Chloe is a second-year JD student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Prior to attending law school, Chloe obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Certificate in Social Impact from Queen’s University. As a 1L student, Chloe volunteered as a Project Lead with Pro Bono Students Canada and as a Campaign Organizer with the Allard Law Women’s Caucus. During her 1L summer, Chloe worked in-house at a publicly-traded automobile dealership group where she gained experience in commercial contract drafting, privacy law, intellectual property, and corporate governance matters. Chloe looks forward to building upon her background in business to help small businesses and non-profit organizations at the Business Law Clinic. In her free time, Chloe enjoys painting, watching Formula 1, and following competitive esports.

Paige Lutz

 
Paige Lutz is second-year JD student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. As a 1L, Paige volunteered as a student clinician with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program and as a presenter with Legal Education Outreach. Her 1L summer was spent at Public Services and Procurement Canada as a procurement officer on the Goods and Services team, where she managed and issued amendments on purchasing contracts. Before starting her JD at Allard, she received her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton. The Business Law Clinic presents an exciting opportunity to build upon her business background from a new legal perspective, and she is looking forward to the experience of working hands-on with clients from the community.

Alex Pescitelli

 
Alex Pescitelli is a third-year JD student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. He is a sports fan who recently ran his first marathon and (foolishly) cheers for the Canucks. Prior to law school, Alex studied accounting at the UBC Sauder School of Business and sprinted for the Varsity Track and Field Team.
At Allard, Alex is an academic peer tutor, student ambassador, and went on an international exchange to Leiden, Netherlands. He spent his 2L summer at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, where he was exposed to work with growth-stage companies. He is excited to build upon this experience through the lens of a volunteer at the Business Law Clinic.

Paige Coe-Chow

 
Paige is a second-year JD student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a specialization in finance from the UBC Sauder School of Business. During her 1L year at Allard, Paige volunteered with Level Justice as a part of Pro Bono Students Canada. This past summer, she worked as a Law Tutor for Sauder’s Real Estate Division, where she updated legal content in real estate pre-licensing courses and provided tutoring services to licensing candidates. In her free time, Paige enjoys doing yoga, snowboarding, and watching reality television. Paige looks forward to further developing her legal skills while assisting small businesses and non-profit organizations at the Business Law Clinic.

Jaclyn Miller

Jaclyn is a second-year JD student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law. Prior to attending law school, Jaclyn completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree at the Sauder School of Business with a specialization in accounting. Jaclyn is an active member of the Allard community, serving as the Vice President of Finance for the Allard Law and Business Society and as the Executive Business Manager of the UBC Law Review. In addition, Jaclyn is a Research Assistant for Dr. Carol Liao and a Teaching Assistant for financial and managerial accounting courses at the Sauder School of Business. After her first year of law school, Jaclyn spent the summer working at a technology company as a Legal Intern and gained experience with corporate governance matters, M&A transactions, and commercial contract drafting. Jaclyn looks forward to continuing her education at Allard and participating in the Business Law Clinic this spring.

Emmanuel Onyemachi

Emmanuel is in his third year at Allard and spent his 2L summer with McCarthy Tétrault in Toronto where he will also be articling after law school. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, and a Master of Arts in Philosophy at the University of Windsor before Allard Law. Prior to law school, he also worked as a Human resource manager and as a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Windsor. In law school, Emmanuel is an active member of the Allard Law student community. He has held several volunteer positions including as the Director of Communications & Advocacy for the Black Law Students Association (UBC chapter) and as a clinician for the Law Students Legal Aid Program. He is also the co-founder and vice-president of the Allard BIPOC Alliance, a group that aims to foster a sense of belonging for BIPOC law students through bridging disparities in the legal community. During his 1L summer, Emmanuel worked with Enbridge Gas Inc.’s in-house legal team in Toronto on various corporate law matters. He is very excited to be part of the Business clinic and is eager to assist local businesses with their legal needs skills whilst gaining practical solicitor experience. Emmanuel spends his free time exploring new cultures through food and spontaneous travelling. He also enjoys catching up with friends over a game of soccer.
