Allard Law Indigenous Legal Studies, in partnership with the UBC Black Law Students' Association, will be offering a free LSAT preparation course for self-identifying Black and Indigenous applicants this summer.
Program Features
This course will prepare you for taking the LSAT as early as the September LSAT.
The course includes:
- all study materials, practice tests, and access to the LSAC LawHub.
- four timed practice tests.
- a session from Allard Law Admissions and Indigenous Legal Studies staff about successful applications to law school.
- a one-on-one Zoom meeting with an Admissions Advisor or Associate Director ILS at Allard Law.
The course will be taught by a current law student virtually.
Cost to Students
Free for eligible students. Students are encouraged, but not required to apply for an LSAC Fee waiver.
Eligibility
- Open to all students who are entering their final year of their undergraduate studies or who have graduated. You do not have to be a UBC student or alumni.
- You are an individual who self-identifies as Black and/or Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit).
Priority will be given to:
- residents of British Columbia.
- students who are committed to writing the LSAT within the current admissions cycle.
- students planning to apply to Allard Law within the next application cycle.
- students who demonstrate financial need or low income.
Program Format and Structure
The 2024 program dates are from June 17 to August 22 with live virtual sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings between 6:00-8:00 pm PT.
- The course will be offered through LSAC’s LawHub entirely online.
- The class is limited to 25 students.
- Two Q and A classes with Black and Indigenous Alumni.
Due to the limited class size, students are expected to commit to attending all sessions, completing several hours of homework each week and completing all the practice tests.
Application
For your application, you will be required to submit a Statement of Interest (max 500 words) along with your LSAC.org registration number ("L" number). If you don't have an L number, you can register for one on the LSAC website.
