At a time when CALS’s events and activities have switched online because of the COVID pandemic, we are excited about the launch of our newsletter in the Fall of 2020. Although we cannot meet you all in person, the cornucopia of video and messaging apps have reminded us about the ease of connecting with our friends and colleagues far away. If you are reading this page, we are very pleased to have reached you!
We plan to send out the CALS newsletter to subscribers 5 or 6 times during the academic year, thereby updating you on the events and activities at CALS, informing you about Allard Hall’s faculty and student research on Asian law, and, most importantly, providing an online venue for the exchange of ideas about Asian law between those of us currently at UBC, our alumni, fellow legal professionals, and others who directly experience the growing significance of Asian legal systems. Accordingly, the stories in our newsletter are expected to fall broadly into the categories of “Center Events,” “Faculty Research,” “Student Research,” and “Asian Legal Practice.”
The CALS newsletter will complement CALS blog, now in its second year of operation. The blog mainly features research stories from our faculty members, students, and visiting scholars. We would be delighted to hear your thoughts about both. We invite you to write to us at cals@allard.ubc.ca.
