Perbeen Mann
Canadian Criminal Law and Procedure (LAW 525)
Professor Mann is a graduate of the University of Alberta law school and was called to the bar in British Columbia in 2001. She is a Senior Crown Counsel and Team Leader, specializing in drug offences and organized crime related prosecutions with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada. She is the past recipient of three Public Prosecution Service of Canada Team Achievement Merit Awards and appears routinely throughout British Columbia in Provincial Court and Supreme Court.
Professor Mann has been teaching at UBC Peter A. Allard School of Law since 2018. Her teaching interests include criminal law and contracts law.
Professor Mann is a Board Trustee with Surrey Crime Prevention Society where she promotes youth leadership in crime reduction initiatives and strategies. As a Co-Champion with the National Council of Racialized Employees at the Public Prosecution Service of Canada, she actively promotes equity and diversity in the workplace on behalf of her colleagues.
Robert Russo

Dr. Russo obtained his LLB, LLM and PhD degrees from the Allard School of Law. His research has been primarily in the area of immigration and labour/employment law and he has published several peer-reviewed articles in this field. He joined UBC as a part-time faculty member in 2017 and was appointed a full-time Faculty Lead Lecturer for the LLMCL program in 2018. He has subsequently guided the teaching for the Distance Learning and LLMCL programs as well as teaching in the first-year J.D. program. He has also designed and taught online courses in in Torts and Public Law.
Dr. Russo’s current interests in law extend to human rights, labour and justice issues. He has been invited to present on labour and migration issues to the Royal Society of Canada and the International Labour Organization. He worked as a legal researcher before pursuing his graduate law degrees. For almost a decade he served as one of the Federal Government’s representatives at hearings held across Canada to resolve individual claims related to federally operated residential schools.
He is an active member in the local legal community and a member of the Law Society of British Columbia. He has taught for the Continuing Legal Education Society and the Professional Legal Education Co-Operative Association, among other organizations, and has volunteered his time with various refugee and human rights organizations in the Lower Mainland.
Sarah Sidhu
Business Organizations (LAW 508D)
Sarah Sidhu is a practicing corporate commercial solicitor and governance consultant and was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Manitoba. She recently obtained her ICD.D designation through the Institute of Corporate Directors/ Beedie School of Business and her CIC.C designation following studies at the Rotman School of Management/CCCA.
Sarah is a member of the Board of Directors of the FJL Housing Society, H.R. Macmillan Space Centre and Arts Umbrella. She has previously served on the Vancouver Foundation and United Way Boards and chaired the Governance Committees at both organizations.
George Tsiakos
Advanced Legal Research and Writing (LAW 530)
George Tsiakos is the Head of the UBC Law Library where he is responsible for the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the Law Library. George is also an Honorary Lecturer at the Peter A. Allard School of Law where he has been teaching introductory and advanced legal research and writing courses since 2009. Previously, George was the Manager of Library Services at Bull, Housser, and Tupper LLP (now Norton Rose Fulbright) where he worked closely with articling students and lawyers on various legal information and research matters. George is a graduate of UBC where he completed his LLB, LLM, and MLIS degrees. He was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 2003 and is a non-practicing member of the Law Society of BC in good standing. George is also an active member of Canadian Association of Law Libraries (CALL) where he has served on numerous committees and the Board of Directors, including serving as Treasurer, First Vice President, and President.
