Allard Hall provides students and faculty members with an inspiring setting for the study of law. Part of that setting includes creating space for visual art of demonstrable excellence by artists of significance.
The Peter A. Allard School of Law seeks works of art as donations or loans, with an emphasis on acquiring Pacific Northwest art, Indigenous art as well as works of art that enhance and contribute to the overall appearance and environmental themes found within Allard Hall. The law school has a particular interest in art which explores the role of law in securing justice, freedom and equality.
Donors may receive a tax receipt for gifts of art with significant value that are accepted by the Allard School of Law. Once the gift is appraised, a donation receipt is issued for the fair market value of the gift. Art can also be bequeathed to the law school. Please note the law school and the University follow carefully considered art acquisition procedures to ensure that a donation will achieve the intended purposes of the donor and the University.
Commemorative Giving: In Honour or In Memoriam
Making a donation of art to the Allard School of Law is a wonderful way of paying tribute to a family member, friend, or colleague. Your gift honours their influence and legacy in your life, while at the same time supporting the law school. Donated art is displayed in Allard Hall along with a plaque noting information about the donor, the art work, and the person the gift is made in honour or in memory of.
