  • Emma Cunliffe

    Professor

    Dr Emma Cunliffe is a Professor in the Allard School of Law.  Dr Cunliffe studies how courts decide the facts of contested cases.  She is particularly interested in expert evidence, the operation of implicit bias, and legal processes regarding gendered and racialized violence, particularly those regarding Indigenous people. Dr Cunliffe is also a member of the evidence-based forensic initiative, which is based at the University of New South Wales.

  • Catherine Dauvergne, KC

    Professor

    Professor Dauvergne has been working in the area of refugee, immigration, and citizenship law over the past quarter of a century.  For a decade she held the Canada Research in Migration Law.  In 2012, Dauvergne was named a Fellow of the Trudeau Foundation in recognition of her contributions to public discourse in Canada. In 2019 she was honoured with a Queen’s Counsel designation.

  • Ronald Davis

    Associate Professor Emeritus

    Ron Davis' research interests are pension law, corporate law, trust law, law and economics, law and society, and insolvency law. His doctoral dissertation concerned the role of pension funds in corporate governance, focusing on the potential exercise of control over these activities by the employee-beneficiaries and whether such control could lead to increased corporate social responsibility. Professor Davis received a Capital Markets Research Fellowship and a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Doctoral Fellowship for this project.

  • Robert Diebolt, KC

    Professor Emeritus

    Robert Diebolt was called to the Bar of B.C., 1975, and was appointed Associate Dean of the Allard School of Law from 1992-1997. Professor Diebolt was appointed Assistant Professor in 1971. He worked in private practice from 1975-77 and 1988-90. Professor Diebolt's teaching subjects include: Commercial Law and Secured Transactions. Prof. Diebolt was an elected Bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia for many years and is now a Life Bencher of the Law Society.

  • David Duff

    Professor

    David G. Duff is Professor of Law and Director of the Tax LLM program at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia, where he teaches and writes in the areas of areas of tax law and policy, corporate and international taxation, environmental taxation and distributive justice.

  • Elizabeth Edinger

    Professor Emeritus

    Elizabeth Edinger joined the Allard School of Law in 1978 as Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1986. Professor Edinger served as Associate Dean from 1988-1992 and from 1997-2003. Her teaching areas include Conflict of Laws, Constitutional Laws and Creditors Remedies.She has published in each of these areas.

  • Robin Elliot

    Emeritus Professor of Law

    Professor Elliot joined the Allard School of Law as Assistant Professor in 1976, was promoted to Associate Professor in 1983 and to Professor in 1991. He has twice served as an Associate Dean, first as Associate Dean, Student Affairs from 1991-93 and subsequently as Associate Dean, Administration and Finance from 2003-06. He served as the Director of Legal Research for the Special Committee on Pornography and Prostitution (Fraser Committee) from 1983-85, and as the Executive Legal Officer of the Supreme Court of Canada from 1995-97.

  • Julen Etxabe

    Assistant Professor, Canada Research Chair in Jurisprudence and Human Rights

    Julen Etxabe is Canada Research Chair in Jurisprudence and Human Rights and joined Allard Law as Assistant Professor in July of 2019. His current research combines legal and literary theory to identify a new model of dialogical judgment emerging in the area of human rights, which is transforming inherited notions of reasoning, rights, authority, and law in the post-national and diverse societies of the 21st century.

  • Keith Farquhar

    Professor Emeritus

    Keith Farquhar was called to the Bar of New Zealand in 1966. Professor Farquhar joined the Allard School of Law in 1976 as Associate Professor and was promoted to Professor in 1990. Prior to coming to UBC, he served as Director of Research for the Law Reform Commission of B.C. and was Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Western Ontario. He also served with the Law Reform Commission of Ontario.
