The Allard School of Law is pleased to announce a gift of $100,000 from Norton Rose Fulbright to support the law school’s Corporate Counsel Externship Program for the next three years.
The program has been supported by Norton Rose Fulbright since its launch in 2017 as the Business Law Student Internship Program, and the law firm’s renewed commitment means students will continue to benefit from this outstanding experiential learning program.
“Norton Rose Fulbright is proud to continue its support of the Corporate Counsel Externship, which brings together top legal minds from Vancouver’s business and law school communities to give Allard students the unique opportunity to learn directly from experienced corporate counsel and apply theoretical concepts that they have learned in the classroom to practical legal and business matters and be exposed to the variety and complexity of in-house counsel practice,” notes Pamela Cyr, Legal Talent Director with Norton Rose Fulbright.
The Norton Rose Fulbright Corporate Counsel Externship provides students with the unique opportunity to be placed in the legal department of a business-oriented organization on a part-time basis for an academic term, giving them exposure to the variety, depth, and complexity of in-house counsel practice, while earning academic credit and making connections with lawyers and non-legal professionals. The gift from Norton Rose Fulbright enables the law school to deliver the teaching component, as well as academic and logistical support for the program, with the contributions of expert adjunct faculty.
“I am thrilled that Norton Rose Fulbright has continued to support the Corporate Counsel Externship program,” says Dean Ngai Pindell. “This gift is essential to growing the substantial complement of experiential learning opportunities available to our students. Norton Rose Fulbright’s sustained support of this Externship program directly benefits our many students who have an interest in business law and in-house legal work.”
The law school is grateful to Norton Rose Fulbright for their support of and commitment to this important program at the Allard School of Law at UBC.
