It is our great pleasure to continue the publication of the CALS newsletter. Starting this year, the publication of the newsletter has been transferred to CALS, and we hope to continue providing engaging content for our readers.
2021 has been such an unusual year for both Allard Law and CALS. We had to shut down the law school and move all of our activities online. Thanks to everyone’s attempts to overcome this pandemic, we were finally allowed to go back to in-person instruction in September. CALS has also gradually restarted in-person activities. In November, we decided to restart the acceptance of new visiting scholar applications. We are also hoping to host several in-person talks or seminars during this coming year. Specifically, we are planning to have round-table discussions on the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic in Asia and the status of cryptocurrency in Asia this semester.
This issue of the newsletter includes several informative and entertaining interviews with prominent leaders of the Asian-Canadian law community in British Columbia.
To our readers: if you know anyone we should interview or include in our newsletter, just let us know at cals@allard.ubc.ca. We hope to stay connected with everyone who has any interest in Asian law.
